Hey guys,
I feel as though we’ve gotten a little sloppy with our trade posts, as mentioned recently by our commish. However, I think it’s most noticeable as it pertains to draft picks. There have been a lot of different formats used, including one recently in a Bristol-Nassau deal that I’m still trying to figure out (do the Sharks get every pick from rounds 2 through 12??).
The reason it can get confusing is because of the structure of the league (playing one year based on the previous year’s stats). Can we agree on one way to post a trade of draft picks? I propose it’s done using the year that the draft takes place. So if I were trading my 1st round pick this year for Josh’s next year, it would look like this:
HS 2012 1st rounder
For
GRR 2013 1st rounder
I’m honestly not as particular as I’m sounding right now, but I do think it would make things easier on the commish when he’s making all the necessary changes.
Also, I’d like to bring to the commissioner’s attention a possible discrepancy in one of the recent deals. I actually think this was done in part because of a lack of standardization in the trade posts:
On 12 January 2011, North Bay posted the following trade:
To North Bay: Carrasco, Zobrist, BP #6, BP #1 (2012), BP #2 (2012)
To Beaconsfield: Konerko
Unless I’m mistaken these would be Beaconsfield’s 1st and 2nd round selections in the upcoming draft. Recently, on 3 February 2012, North Bay posted this trade:
To Beaconsfield
===========
Alex Rodriguez, Jonny Venters, Ted Lilly
To North Bay
=========
Brandan Beachy and 2012 BP 2nd rd pick
Now, unless I’m misreading this (which is a distinct possibility), Beaconsfield traded his 2nd round pick to North Bay twice, as North Bay did not move that pick (from what I could see) in any other deals between then and now. If I’ve missed something please let me know.
